High-net-worth financial planning in Milton Keynes

Some finances need rather more than a once-a-year check-in. Where there are several pots, several objectives and tax consequences attached to most decisions, the value is in the coordination.

We advise high-net-worth clients from our Milton Keynes office, and are used to working alongside existing accountants and solicitors.

Where we add most value

  • Portfolios spread across multiple providers, wrappers and asset types
  • Balancing pension funding against other tax-efficient options
  • Planning for how assets pass on, and working alongside your solicitor or accountant
  • Structuring income in retirement across several sources
  • Ongoing management, with formal reviews every quarter

One adviser, not a team you never meet

You deal directly with John Clewlow. There is no account manager between you and the person making the recommendations, and no rotating cast of advisers to bring up to speed each year. For clients with complicated arrangements, that continuity is usually the point.

Working with your other advisers

Financial planning at this level rarely sits in isolation from tax and legal matters. We are happy to work alongside your accountant and solicitor so that advice pulls in the same direction. We do not provide tax or legal advice ourselves.

Whole of market

We are not tied to any provider. Every recommendation is drawn from the whole market and chosen on its merits for your situation.

When a single adviser makes sense

Once assets are spread across pensions, ISAs, general investment accounts and perhaps property or a business, the individual decisions stop being independent of one another. Drawing income from the wrong place in a given year, or funding a pension without regard to the annual allowance taper, can cost considerably more than any difference in fund charges.

Having one adviser with sight of everything is what prevents that. We are not trying to beat the market on your behalf; we are trying to make sure the parts fit together and that nothing is being done in isolation.

How we work

  • An initial review of everything you hold, wherever it is held
  • A written plan setting out what we recommend and why
  • Formal reviews every quarter, with changes recommended where warranted
  • Direct access to John between reviews, without going through an account manager

Common questions

What counts as high-net-worth planning?
Less a threshold than a level of complexity: several pots, several objectives, and tax consequences attached to most decisions. The value is in coordinating them rather than managing each in isolation.
Will I deal with one adviser?
Yes. You deal directly with John Clewlow throughout, with no account manager in between and no rotating cast of advisers to brief each year.
Do you work with my accountant and solicitor?
Yes, and we encourage it so advice pulls in the same direction. We do not provide tax or legal advice ourselves.

The value of investments and the income from them can fall as well as rise, and you may not get back the full amount invested. Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change. We do not provide tax or legal advice. This page is general information, not personal advice.
